Link Crossing Hyrule | Jacques-Louis David Study

This started as a quick sketch studying one of my favourite artists paintings: "Napoleon Crossing the Alps" by Jacques-Louis David. I wanted to study it without completely copying it, and so decided to combine it with one of my favourite game franchises: Zelda. I placed Link riding Epona, with an emphasis on rendering the anatomy correctly on the horse. I liked the original sketch so much I decided to fully render it, with the end goal of printing it on canvas and hanging it in my study next to a copy of a Jacques-Louis David painting I already have hanging (The Coronation of Josephine). The image is a bit of a kit-bash from various Zelda games ranging from Ocarina of Time to Breath of the Wild.
All of the painting was done in photoshop with the default brushes, and occasionally a chalk-like brush for some texture. Painted on a Wacom Cintiq 20hd. The painting is about 6k pixels tall, (the image I've uploaded is really low-resolution by comparison) and is the biggest digital painting I've worked on. If i'm being honest, I'll probably dabble on this painting a few more times to further balance the lighting, add better folds to the raised arm, as well as add other items like the Ocarina hanging from his belt.
Hidden details: Cuco's on the roof of Kakariko village + the town guard at the gates, Goron City doors on mount doom, Volvagia the fire dragon flying near mount doom, Beetle the salesman walking down the path from the Temple of Time/Hyrule Castle, a deku scrub in the foreground, a silent princess flower in the foreground, many hyrule guards in the background, along with Majora's Mask/Skull Kid. All of the zelda races insignias are contained on the master sword hilt hanging from Link's belt. The trim work on Link's clothing is mostly riffing off the Hylian shield symbol containing the triforce.
It's a balance trying to add in easter eggs without it feeling tacky but I think I can safely add a few more in the future :D
According to my wife the painting took too long to finish. :D
